Hangovers galore today, John is taking us sightseeing in Melbourne city - to help cure us we have the hair of the dog and start with a walk along St Kildea beach.
We spot a bung of eejits running around playing football with the upper part of their bodies contained in a mini zorb ball - it's hilarious looking.
We head to the Espie a famous music venue and bar and after John beats Jacq at pool we chill with a drink before making tracks to the Victoria market.
We're not up for shopping so we park up and walk towards the lanes - Matt stops at a cd store and invests in a few albums for our drive in NZ we get All American Rejects, Killers and Fratellis - all for $10.
As with any big city there are some shocking sights on route like homeless folks in awful states - it's never easy to walk past it but apparently the city has a lot of professional beggars so it's hard to tell whose genuine.
We head for the lanes and see the mighty ACDC lane, interestingly when it was first named the council refused to insert a lightening bolt into the plaque and it's only recently been allowed. The lane is full of the most amazing graffiti art - it really is art no other word for it - stunning! We find the lanes are very much like Brighton, lots of shops and bars full of hustle and bustle. One thing we've noticed about the cities here is that they are nowhere near as overcrowded as London and walking around is a breeze especially in Melbourne as it's all mapped out on a grid so it's easy to navigate.
We see the cricket stadium, the 7th most ugly building in the world
Federation building (it's true) and Flinders Ration which is just stunning - quick pint in the Young and Jackson pub is had. We then make our way down a few shopping streets (the lads are pleased) Jacqs not interested in that at all and we head to an Irish bar called PJ O Briens stopping to put a love lock on the bridge on route - that's locks on Paris, the Great Wall and Melbourne now :)
Pjs is a great spot and John takes us for a stroll down the river before we jump in a cab home. We are all supposed to be going out tonight to see Matts friend Ben perform in his band in the city but we're beat - we treat the lovely Porters to a Thai meal and have an early night.
