Ho Chi Minh City, formerly Saigon is a bustling mega-city. Vietnam's capitol, Hanoi, in the north cannot compare when you look at the wealth of Saigon. But missing in Saigon is the Vietnamese charm that only the country's capitol possesses. It's like everything else, you either got it or you don't.
Yesterday, after lunch I popped into the restaurant's WC. It had a toilet, urinal and a sink. The room was so small that they had to install more than half the urinal under the sink. It would be very difficult, impossible maybe, to use the urinal without peeing in the sink.
Last night we ordered seafood hotpot. It's one of the deals where you cook your own food at your table. Unfortunately, our waiter put to much fuel in our burner. Five minutes after lighting up, the flame was out of control and the pot, burner and wooden box - now in flame - that it all sat on had to be taken out onto the street to be doused.
Eating in Saigon has been interesting.
