So we left Koh Tao on 22nd May by boat to Chumpon, then got the overnight train from Chumpon to Bangkok. The overnight train was awesome, the beds were even more comfortable than the ones we had at the hotel in Koh Tao!! The train did get a bit bumpy at times, but we got a good sleep anyway!
Arrived in Bangkok at 8am - we met a Swedish couple on the train and shared a taxi with them to the Koh San Road. We're staying in a really nice hotel (which has a pool!!) just a minute's walk from Koh San. We were pretty tired and a bit achey when we got here, so we decided to go for a thai massage - I thought it was good, but Jack says he's never getting another one because it hurt too much!!
We decided to take on the public transport instead of getting rolled by the pesky tuk tuk drivers - we got the local bus to Siam Square to do some shopping, and also went to the cinema to see Pirates of the Caribbean 3 (not very good!). We waited for the bus for an hour to get back, so had to take a tuk tuk - we were lucky, he just took us where we wanted to go!
The next day we went to see about a river boat tour, but were approached by a man in a suit offering rediculous prices, so we didnt bother.  I had a relaxing day by the pool while Jack watched a film. That night, we went to Patpong Markets, which are really good, but only if you brought another suitcase with you and are going straight home - we cant buy anything because we have to carry it around for so long!
Patpong is also the red light district, and we were constantly pestered by people trying to get us to go to a pingpong show - anyone who's been to Bangkok will know exactly what I mean, but for those who don't know, it is a show with a woman and a pingpong - the pingpong gets sho tover the room, you can use your imagination! They also said she can open a can of coke with it - I don't believe it, but wasn't intreagued enough to find out!! After being asked 100 times if we wanted to see it we decided just to head back to Kho San. We got another tuk tuk but said to the guy, we'll pay him a little bit extra to get photos taken in the driver seat - he agreed, see pics!!
We went for a drink on the Kho San and got chatting to a Norweigan guy - he was making Jack look bad, i'd only met him for 15 minutes and he bought me a rose, I can't actually remember if i've ever had flowers from Jack.....!!!
Today we went on a river boat trip, it was really good - we went straight to the guy who drives the boat so we got it much cheaper than what the other guy was offering. There was one bit on the trip where there was lots of Catfish, and you can feed them bread from your hands which was pretty cool - Jack got soaked because they were all trying to get at this bread!
Since being here, we've been eating the local dishes from street vendors - we find them tastier than fancy restaurants and obviously less than half the price. Jack bought a fried cockroach (yes, this one was supposed to be on the plate). I had a little taste, but thought i might be sick if i had anymore (the thought of it, yuck!!). It tastes just like the seasoning they put on it, but it's still rank!
So, we're off to Cambodia tomorrow, bus leaves at 7.15am and gets to Siem Reap at 8.00pm!!! Apparently it's extremely bumpy, so we'll be glad when we get there.
Hope everyone is ok - and by the way, if no-one starts writing messages or adding comments to our pictures, we're going to pull the plug on this website and you can all wonder what we are up to, so get writing!
