We arrived in New Zealand on Saturday, and have been busy job hunting, opening bank account, flat hunting and getting tax numbers to work! It's really cold here - being in 30 degrees heat for 3 months doesn't really prepare you for the cold winters here!

We arrived at about 10.30am, and unfortunately were pretty jet lagged! We slept all afternoon and got up at 10pm!!! For a couple of days we were sleeping during the day and up at night, but we've got that all sorted out now!

I have managed to find a job for 3 months, working for an internet provider in central Auckland. Jack will be finding out tomorrow if he has a 3 weeks job fitting windscreens in Tauranga, which is south of Auckland. There is plenty of other work when that finishes, so he'll be finding out about that when the 3 weeks is up.

We are staying in a hostel at the moment, but searching for a flat share to stay in. We've had a look at a couple, but they were no good - one was for only one person (don't know why they asked us to look there!!) and the other one was a tiny flat with 6 people living there - no thanks!!

As for sightseeing, we haven't really done much so far because we've been looking for jobs/flats etc. We'll probably have a look around Auckland, go to the sky tower (i'm not jumping from it though - Jack said he might, if the price is right!!). We've been in touch with couple who we lived with in Sutton who were from NZ and are living here just now (they don't have any spare rooms though!) so we're going to meet with them at the weekend - will be good to catch up!

So, apart from not finding a flat yet, and things looking a bit slim on that front, we're doing well! Hopefully something will come up soon!!

Might not be too many blogs in the near future, as we'll be working and not really doing too much, but we'll keep in touch with emails and the blogs will continue when we have something interesting to talk about!!!
