So here we are back in Amsterdam after one month around Europe, 11 countries, 18 cities and 124 hours (about 5 days?!) on the train! It has been well worth it, apart from the blisters on our feet!
We spent the last couple of nights in Berlin - it is an amazing city, so much history and things to see. The first thing we did was go to the German History Museum so that we could learn about all the sights we were going to visit. We ended up spending 3 and a half hours in there, and that still wasn't enough!!Â
From there we went to the wall memorial - there are still quite a few parts standing, and the parts that have been knocked down are replaced by bricks in the road, so that when you are walking around you can see where the divide used to be. We visited the Topography of Terror, which gives some history on the wall. Along from there is Checkpoint Charlie - a US border point for people to go through.
We visited the Brandenberg Gate - and also right next to that is the hotel where Michael Jackson dangled his baby from a balcony! Very exciting!! We'd been told that this was here, but we checked with the concierge, and he showed us which window it was!!
I'd definately recommend Berlin for a long weekend -Â but keep a day clear for the museum!
We're getting ready for heading to the sunshine tomorrow, next time we post something it'll be from a little island in Malaysia!
Hope everyone is well!
Take care
