We arrived in Pushkar that afternoon, and were able to walk from the bus station to our hotel, and the added bonus was that there were no autorickshaw drivers there, so we didn't have a lot of hassle when getting off the bus which was nice.
We are staying in the Pink Floyd hotel - our room is called 'The Wall'! We wanted dark side of the moon, but never mind! The hotel is nice, and very cool at night which is a bonus. When we arrived there was a celebration parade which was really good and as we watched we saw people on elephants, camels and horses and they were all painted up and dressed up. They threw flowers everywhere and had a marching band - complete with a guy with his portable keyboard and speakers - very cool!!! When it got dark, they burned a huge model guy and set off fireworks - must be like India's version of guy fawkes night!
Pushkar is a relaxing change, it is quiet, not much hassle, lots of lovely shops and a nice lake. Our hotel had a rooftop restaurant which was nice to meet people in the evening.
One day when we were looking at the shops, there was a postman with his 'india post' bike and Jack asked if he could take a picture. He said yes, and then wrote down his address and asked him to send a copy when we get home so that he can have it for himself!
We ended up staying 3 nights there and are now in Jodhpur - more on that on the next blog later, as we only arrived this afternoon!
Hope everyone is well
