The last few days has been great, we had such a nice time in Trindade. We did the boat trip, which we all went on the bus to Paraty and then hired a boat which cost 30 reil each (there was 11 of us) which is about 12 pounds. we got on the boat at 11.30am, there were free caipirinhas all day.... sun, shade, lots of beaches, diving off the boat, lots of caipirinhas... we also saw some monkeys and got onto the island to feed them bananas, itwas really cool, we havent seen monkeys like these before, they were tiny. we got back to the dock at 6.30 pm so were very tired from all the sun, sea and drinks.

Apart from the boat trip our days consisted of going to the beach, and then coming back for food and drinks. One day we went to a waterfall where you can slide down the rocks into the water, like a natural slide. There were lots of great people staying in the hostel, which was called the sea and forest hostel, and the people who run it were so friendly. The guy, Osmar was very knowledgable about the rainforest animals, and always brought us something new to look at every day, and we saw lots of humming birds.

Our Portuguese is getting a little better, learning something new every day - faka is knife, which is good fun! Nothing is in English at all here, and i would say the majority dont speak english but we get by. Going to get confused when we switch to spanish though! We have been cooking our own food, the other night Julia cooked chile con carne for us which was great. the food here has been a little disappointing anyway, it all fried or bland so its worth it to eat in, and only go out every so often. or maybe we are eating at the wrong places. jack is still eating his kosheena thing, ive discovered acai, which is a fruit from the amazon blended with banana and guarana, topped with muesli and honey, the eat it everywhere and its a delicious snack in the sun because it is frozen, yum!

At the moment we are waiting for our bus to Sao Paulo, which leaves at 11.30pm and arrives at 5.30am. we are planning on getting a bus straight away to Curitiba, where we will stay one night then take a scenic train to Morretes, which is in the rain forest. The train journey is supposed to be one of the most scenic in Brazil - www.serraverdeespress.com.br if anyone is interested in having a look we will be going on the mountain range train, unfortunately not the luxury one.

Curitiba is another 6hours from Sao Paulo, so we will hopefully be there tomorrow afternoon, then getting the train on Tuesday morning. then Morrettes for a couple of nights. We might be meeting some people we met in Trindade in Florianopolis which is the gateway to Ilhe de Santa Caterina after that.
