Florence Falls to Darwin
Sunny, 31 degrees.
So after such a dramatic start to our trip, and for a while not being sure whether we will even make it up north at all, today was the day we were to drive into Darwin and drop off the fun bus!
We packed up all our stuff from the cupboards etc, and finished all the cleaning of the inside of the van. Then we left for the drive to Darwin, a short drive today of less than two hours. First of all we stopped off at Berry Springs. We had never got around to visiting there on our last trip here, so thought we would have a look around and have some lunch there. It was packed with people, mainly locals from Darwin I would say. It is a very popular spot and of course it was also Sunday and the school holidays have just begun. So all in all this would make for a very busy time there. The springs are very pretty. Lovely warm water and the gardens surrounding them are lovely. Very peaceful and an ideal place to come for a picnic and day out. We had our lunch. Then left for the drive into the city.
We went first to our hotel, actually it is a little one bedroom apartment. Has a lovely kitchen, with everything you need, stove, oven, full size fridge, microwave, washer, dryer and even a one drawer dishwasher. A living room opening out to a balcony and separate bedroom and bathroom. Just perfect and cost less than a hotel room.
We unpacked everything from the camper van, our cases were all packed up but we needed to also unpack the food left including what was left in the fridge. We have been using up most of it in the past few days but still have a bit left. Put everything in the apartment and then went to take the camper van back to the depot which was near the airport. Only a few minutes away. First of all we had to fill up the tank. And we also had a look around the bay.
Got a taxi back from there and then had to sort out all the stuff back in the room. We had some cheese and dips left so had them. And also we still had some meat left, some pork chops so decided to eat them for dinner tonight. There was a lovely city sunset tonight.
The Moto GP and formula 1 GP were both on TV tonight so Lauri was happy watching. He has not seen any really for the whole trip.
