Disembark.....Magical Venice...
Left the ship at about 10 this morning. Wasn't too chaotic, quite organised. Then walked to the apartment. We had worked out the best way to get there yesterday, so avoided the Main Street which were very busy with lots of tourists dragging suitcases like us, and found a couple of quiet back lane shortcuts. Arrived to meet the owners of the apartment, Fulvia and her husband who were so friendly and helpful. Up two floors. We moved in and spent quite a while just looking at all the goings on in the canal outside our window. Fascinating! So much to see all the time. We don't have a balcony which is a pity as it would be lovely to sit out there and watch the world go by.
We are both pretty tired after travelling so much, and also I think eating, drinking so much on the cruise. Not used to all this food and drink on offer all the time! Need to get back to normal I think! Although we have walked soooo much on this trip, our feet are getting really over it!!!
We spent the afternoon relaxing and then walked for a while and found a supermarket to stock up for a few days. There is a restaurant on the street below where we thought we would have dinner tonight. But when we arrived back at the apartment they said that they were full tonight. There were heaps of others up the street, but we decided it was a good excuse to stay in and have an early night. So we made ourselves a healthy salad. And then watched the goings on out the window again. Lauri set me up in the window with a couple of cushions and a glass of wine!!! Very relaxing spot!!!
