We wake early after having to spend the night in the harbour town, after failing to make the last ferry that night. We stay in a hotel called DJ palace.
We wake early the next morning. The sky is cloudy as we make our way across the waters to the island Pangkor. The island was once a place popular with fisherman, now a popular tourist destination. The weather is dampening on both our clothes and spirits but at the first sign of sunlight, true to our British stereo-types, we head to the beach for a bit of snorkelling. The water was dirty, the fish scarce and the jellyfish plentiful. The less said about this experience the better. Nevertheless, we make it back to coral beach just in time for a beautiful sunset and later that night we enjoy some Street food.
Back to KL from here after a fleeting visit to the island. We spend the next two nights at the sheraton again. Catching some last minute bargains for mum at the markets in china town, before an emotional goodbye. After 2 weeks in the life of a traveller, I think mama D has been converted to the simple life (sort of) by these 2 hairy hippies.
