Arrived in Florence after around 33 hours on the go at around 5pm last night. Great transits and very easy to catch the train from Rome to Florence. Quick trip when you are travelling 250km/hr. Gorgeous views on the way up. Every hill adorned with a small terracotta roofed village and grapes and olives spilling down the hillsides. The planting of the yew trees gorgeous. Just like the pictures you see. Found our hotel which is a bit further away than what we were expecting. Something to do with thinking we were close to the wrong railway station. It’s specious and quiet so great. Went for a bit of a walk last night to find our bearings. More narrow cobbled streets than I remembered and a constant stream of tourists. Plenty to keep me occupied for a couple of days. Found a very cute very small wine bar for a glass of wine and some antipasti for dinner. Home to hotel for well deserved sleep.
