Train arrived in Hue at 11am and was a pretty good trip and slept quite well
Nice hotel in Hue (pronounced Hway)
Short break to freshen up then bus to Citadel and walk around this World Heritage site in the process of being restored to its former glory. It is a huge complex from one of the Dynasties containing Royal suites and many other sections for the family etc. over 10000 people lived inside the Citadel walls and over 1000 of them inside the Emperors private section including up to 1000 concubines (no wonder the emperors died young) and eunuchs
Amazing complex with masses of restoration work to do
Back to hotel then for dinner Josh, Mats, Tenzin,V and A went for a special dinner at Ancient Hue one of the top restaurants in Hue and Vietnam. Dined outside under the trees and had the Royal Banquet degustation. Amazing food with lots of decorative carved veg (characteristic of Royal cuisine)
12 courses with beer, wine and cocktails came to A$30 each
Hue is very French and a quiet alternative to hectic Hanoi
