Morning in the apartment today then leave for Intrepid Hotel pm
Breakfast at Starbucks - never thought we would say that! - the coffee is actually very good if you have a double shot!
Left at 12 and caught taxi to Viengtai Hotel in Khao San. What a contrast this district is to the apartment, it is party central here with lots of bars, restaurants etc and lots of "backpackers" - ok for a bit but would drive us nuts for too long
Hotel has wifi (sort of) and a pool so we made good use of both and Thai food is good at the restaurants but westernized a bit to cater for the clientele
Intrepid Tour meeting at 6pm - guide called Ness and total of 9 on the tour - us 3, 2 other Aussies our age, a young Swedish guy who lives in Germany, young couple from London on their honeymoon (one is German and the other was born in Tibet) and a woman from Brazil - really interesting mix and all seem quite friendly
Dinner with group and then a few drinks
