This morning we went on a guided tour of the town visiting a temple (yes another one), the day market along with its sun dried rats, giant catfish, live baby crabs and dead beetles all local delicacies but not for us. Walked along the Mekong to more street stalls then down a quaint paved street which shows what UNESCO World Heritage $ can achieve for a town and visited the former Royal Silversmith (Lao is a democratic republic now and not a kingdom so no king unlike Thailand)
This afternoon we went to the Kuang Si Waterfall, Park and Bear Sanctuary -amazingly beautiful place with lush green growth, cascading waterfall, swimming hole and sanctuary for bears rescued from poachers who want them for meat, claws and bile extraction - very cruel as the last 2 require them to be kept alive in captivity
Dinner at Lao Lao Garden was a traditional Lao BBQ (bit like a steamboat) in an open air restaurant which (unfortunately as it turns out) had a late night bar next to it where we played table soccer and drank for far too long with Josh, Martin, Marthis and Tenzin - had a wow of a time especially Josh but a bit of a wobbly walk home and sure tomorrow will be a slow day)
