After two uneventful flights I arrived in Kathmandu. I was picked up by the volunteer organisation and taken to a guest house in Thamel with a few of the other volunteers. Thamel is known for being the tourist area of Kathmandu, and the area where most people stay, shop and eat.

Our group spent the first few days sightseeing and doing language and culture classes in the guesthouse. We explored a few of the famous temples and a popular lookout spot, which had a view of the Himalayas.

On our fourth day we left Kathmandu at 6:30am to head to Pokhara by bus..
