Hi everyone and welcome back to the blogs. So we flew into Amsterdam on friday, which was then Saturday morning. It was Catherine's first ever long haul flight. Something like 10.5 hours or so, and she did quite well considering the pregnancy and all. Oh yeah she's 5.5 months pregnant for those that don't know. One highlight of the flight was the girl sitting in front of me. She was blowing up chunks as we were landing, to her defence it was a very bumpy landing. But seriously 3 bags deep of puke is a little much. "Get it together lady".
So we made it to our hostel with a short commute by train with little to no ease. When we arrived we had no idea of how to get into the hostel, considering it was a boat (see cover picture). We arrived thinking there would be a door or welcome sign. Well there was no sign but there was a door, bear in mind it was only 3 feet high. Never have I - keep in mind being sober - had to crawl through a front door to get in. I guess that the front door was a sign of things to come. For soon as we got to our room it became apparent why it was one of the cheapest place to stay in Amsterdam. I kid you not our room was a 4 x 4 room, and that included the beds. We literally had to change in the hallway, but we easily saved 25-50€, score!!!
Although we were completely exhausted we decided to go out and see the city. We went to the Anne Frank house, but since it was a Saturday the line up was too long. So we moved on to the Heineken factory, which was pretty neat. It could have been much better though, but considering we hadn't eaten that well and were completely exhausted (going on 20+ hours with no sleep) we headed back to the boat for a nap.
After having a 2.5 hour power nap, we were up and ready to go see Amsterdam's finest. And by "finest" I mean w****s. I would have to say the quote of the night from Catherine was "how is this even possible". Another quote from myself that was quite memorable was "wow look at that ones t*** it's ...oh "she" has a penis, moving on". Can you say culture shock. We got some serious people watching done here. And after me saying no to Catherine's repeated attempts to hire a lady of the night. We headed back to the boat.
We woke up early because we thought we had a train reservation to Berlin for 7:01, but it turns out I'm an idiot and we weren't suppose to catch the train until 1:01. So far we haven't been kicked off yet but we are only an hour into are 6 hour train ride. So here's hoping we get lucky. Next stop Berlin, some highlights we look forward to are the Zoo, a concentration camp, and seeing the various sights of the city. See you guys tomorrow.
PS
36 hours with no shower and going strong.
