Hello everybody! Great read in this weeks 'my news', starting with the ever continuing bad luck of Ian and Hayley!
Once again our luck really is starting to stink!!!!! We went dolphin swimming this week which was great untill the male dolphins started to get abit randy with hayley, thinking she was an attractive female dolphin they ended up ripping her wet suit from her body leaving her totally naked in the water, she was then eaten by a big whale and she now lives inside the big whale with pinnoccio, the only food she gets is scraps of fish heads from the local fishermen. Me on the otherhand fell down a massive cravas on the Fraz Josef glacier, smashing my legs back and arms to bits, the hellicopter that was sent to rescue me crashed in a storm so now i am a block of ice. Our van also had bad luck 3 wheels fell of this week, the only way we could get replacements was to trade the small chocolate faced boy, who we had kidnapped to give to borat as a present, with a nasty Jew. We thought that 3 wheels for one boy was abit steep but wot could we do!!!!!!
Anyway all jokes aside, i have no bad luck to tell you this week. We are having an amazing time. 2 funny stories that are true to start with first. Earlier this week we had set of to wellington to get the ferry for the south island but it was getting quite late so we decided to pull over and settle down for the night, the spot we had pulled into though didnt feel right (abit to close to the main road) so we decided to move on only to realise we were stuck in the mud. I tried my best to push it out but with no luck. Luckily a guy had pulled over also so i ran to get him to help us. With his help we got the van rocking and eventually with hayleys help on the accelerater, she floored it, freeing it from the hole only to realise she had covered this guy head to toe in mud! Opps!!! We said thanks and drove off quickly!
The second funny story is that our van was attacked by a peacock. We were in the van having some lunch when this male peacock came over and started to take an interest in the van. Then out of know where it had spread its feathers, making some horrible nosies, shaking its bum at us, and ever time the female peacock came anywhere near it chased her off and then came back even scarier than before. The poor thing must of got abit confused, coz one side of our van is purple and blue, it must of thought we were some kind of threat to its lady friend.
On the activity front, this week it began with whale watching. This was a great experience, the whales we were watching were the large sperm whales. We were very lucky, you normally get 1 or 2 sightings. We got to see 4, for the size of these things they are very gracful. Also on the way back to shore we saw a pod of 3 to 4 hundred dusky dolphins. This was great and excited us very much because we were swimming with them the day after, so all night we had our fingers crossed and hoped we would find the same pod of dolphins the next day. The next day we were up bright and early, 4.30am, in search of the dusky dolphins. And luckily for us we found the same or similar sized pod for us to swim with. They told us, that to get the most out of the dolphins you had to keep them entertained otherwise they get bored and swim off. One way to do this was to make nosies down your snorkel. After you get over the fact that you sound like a complete weirdo, and realise that everyone is doing it, you can relax and enjoy the dolphins. It was crazy, you didnt know where to look there was that many of them. They came and looked at you, did circles round you, jumped around you then swam off. Another bonus for us was that the mothers had just gave birth to their young so there were tiny little dolphins that were so cute.
Our last adventure before heading off to queesntown was Franz Josef Glacier. This was also something else. The size of it was unbelievable. To say its summer here and the ice never melts is quite hard to get your head round. We went on a 8 hour trek right in to heart of the glacier, experiencing blue ice and giant cravases. Look out for a jabba look-a-like eating his dinner. Our poor legs were very tired at the end of the day.
Just one more activity to fit in before christmas but i wont say wot it is until we have done it just in case we back out of it.
misssing you all, 4 more sleeps untill Christmas Day. yippppeeeeee!!!!!!
