Ian & Claire's Adventure
We woke on Holi in anticipation of chaos, poor old Chris had definitely got food poisoning and had had an awful night in the bathroom so after breakfast we sent him to bed and hung around, many groups of people were arriving at the rooftop of our hotel drenched in paint of every colour imaginable. We had bought 4 bags of paint ourselves ready for our turn. Looking off the roioftops we could see families throwing paint and buckets of water all over eachother. There were gangs of lads marching the streets covered mainly in red paint, all a bit scary as us girls knew that our boobs would be the main target, and holi has a bad reputation as in the past its got a bit out of control, the day that these guys can drink legally. We grabbed some food and then woke chris and all got into our glad rags, got our paint and walked out into what was now a deserted street, a bit eerie. We covered ourselves in a bit of war paint and then walked around all the streets, it was all very sedate. We met groups of people who all exchanged paint! they come over and grab a handful of paint and put it on your face then give you a big bear hug and say happy holi, it turned out to be good fun and we saw some hilarious people, old men and guys on motorbikes all covered in all sorts of colours. Unfortunately one horrid bloke ran out of his house with a bucket of what later turned out to be dark green ink and chucked it over me (claire) luckily I managed to turn my back on him. We all enjoyed ourselves and were out for a couple of hours, only at the last minute did us girls get groped but Ian said he'd break the guys legs if he did it again....which worked a treat! We spent the rest of the afternoon in the shower scrubbing eachother with soap, the green die is permanaent so claire has green hair streaks and a green back but the rest finally started to come off. Later, knackered we had dinner at our place and then crashed, really happy to have survived holi, and chris survived the food poisoning.
