Ian & Claire's Adventure
We arrived in jaisalmer tired and soo dusty. We walked out of the
station to the sight of about 30 guys with huge signs advertising
hotels, all being held back by police...eek, but we saw our sign and
walked over, they knew our names and took us off to the hotel. We were
feeling pretty grotty but our first view on the way of the fort was
great, it looked like a huge sandcastle. We got to the hotel,
typically and annoyingly to find due to the influx of richer tourists
they didnt have a room available, they sold ours to someone else for
loads more basically. Ian rushed about and founnd a lovely room with a
great little window and view accross the walls of the fort, it had a
shower and a western toilet and a comfy bed, all that we needed, we
just crashed like logs. That evening we went and had a chat to Ganesh
travels and decided to book our camel safari for two days later, we
then went to dinner at little tibet (recommended by Chris and Emma) the
momos were great but the service so slow we left before we got to try
the dessert. The next day we spent wandering about the fort its has
lots of little streets with confident cows and little shops selling the
usual tat and beautiful carved windows and doorways and sometimes an
amazing haveli. We phoned Mum to wish her happy birthday and had a
meal at Natraj, one of the best meals in india (not really saying much
as the food had been pretty bad to be honest) but it was very good and
refreshingly friendly people, cheers to chris and emma for another good
recommendation. We also went to find Ian a turban for the trip and me
a head scarf, and have his trousers sewn up by a frindly tailor.
