We stayed in a little lodge in Kilwa Masoko, another small village on the South East of Tanzania. On our first night we were joined by another couple but today we are again the only guests. Our Banda overlooks the ocean and we're treated to the constant rumbling of the waves. It's one of the nicest spots yet and the seclusion is becoming quite addictive. Yesterday was extremely hot and we soaked up the sun in the afternoon. Today we've been on a trip to Kilwa Kisiwani, it's a small island off the mainland and in its prime was the seat of Sultans from Oman. For a number of centuries it was the main port and trading point along the whole eastern coast of Africa. The ruins are incredible and date back to the 11th Century. The ruins are now a UNESCO world heritage site - very nice indeed!
Tomorrow we are having another well earned rest day to top up the sun tan, play some cards (the system cannot be beaten!) and enjoy some more of the local beers. So far we have found that Safari beer is the nicest but there is a stout that I have spotted behind the bar so I think tomorrow I will have to see if it compares at all with Guinness!

Nick It all sounds so idyllic - beautiful vistas, a constant supply of beer, sun and board games. How pink is James?

Leon There is no system! Also no stout please otherwise I anticipate some guffing!
Anwen Now that is the life!
