Hello All,
We have had a very hectic day walking around Dar and thankfully we are now sitting in a nice hotel with a beer taking advantage of the free wifi and air conditioning.
The ferry ride from Zanzibar was fine but we found that the BO generated from everyone started becoming a bit overpowering and made us feel more sick than the rough seas. There is definitely a greater acceptance over here and you constantly feel like you are coming home from work on the tube in the middle of summer rammed next to someone who clearly hasn't washed for a week! It's not that bad really and I'm sure the longer we travel for the more we will embrace this.
So far we haven't found anything special about Dar but we cannot fault the food. Local restaurants just keep producing plate after plate of excellent food. We have just found a little Indian with three tables that fed us both for only £2.50. I can certainly get use to this so everybody that thought we would get thinner over this year were wrong! The beer is constantly flowing as well and so far a beer called Safari is by far the best. I know it is a cliché but we are collecting beer labels as drinking is one of my favourite pass times and it will be good to look back over all the beers collected in each of the countries.
We are heading to Moshi tomorrow as we haven't been that impressed with Dar so we are really looking forward to our 9 hour bus journey tomorrow. It will be interesting to see how vicious the touts will be at the bus station as the Lonely Planet even warns that they are particularly persistent.
Speak soon J & H
