G'day folks (how predictable, *sigh*). We touched down in Oz this morning after a ripper of a flight. Great films on the old tellybox but literally not a minute of shut-eye. We got in at about 9am this morning and got the train from the airport into the city and back out to Petersham. We didn't know where The English Lodge (where our little abode is) was, but with my spidey-senses on, my nose twitching like a star-nosed mole, we got straight to the Lodge no bother.
'Small' is not a word I would use to describe our little room. The Lodge is a house of 24 rooms, some of which are en-suite. There's a big kitchen with your own lockable cupboards for your food and in your room you have your own fridge, microwave, kettle and sink, as well as a TV and DVD player, a coffee table and sofa and a computer with internet (which is currently not working so we're at the local retail emporium using pay per hour internet - not ideal). And a bed, of course, which goes without saying. All in all it's perfectly adequate. We have a lovely view of the side of next door's house (which might be a little awkward if they leave the curtains open when they're getting changed, since we'll then be pretty much nose-to-nose as it were). We've already done a big shop and marvelled at how ridiculously expensive everything is here. Did you know it costs $2 for a bar of cadbury's? That's like paying about 1.40 at home which is the maddest thing I have ever heard. Damn the Australian economy for being so strong at the moment, I say.
Anyway, we're alive and have somewhere to sleep tonight, which is the main thing. The next thing to sort out is employment, which is a job for tomorrow. Hopefully the calls will be flooding in...
