Day 8 - I know I said yesterday was my last blog but it was decided that as well as doing a tour this afternoon of Angkor Wat temple, another must do trip was visit Angkor Wat when the sunrises. So up we get up at 0430, well those of us that could actually make it out of bed. 12 accounted for 7 MIA which is appropriate for this region.
Along with the masses and winging our way on a Tuk Tuk to the temple, the non MIA's get out in the dark and make our way by torchlight to the main part of Angkor Wat temple in the middle in front of a large pond. Once the sun started to rise you could see the amount of people that had turned out to take pictures of the main temple ranging from the novice to the budding David Bailey's with there tripods, light meters and never ending selections of lenses, nice!!!
The sun comes up and the sky behind becomes lighter and the temple reflects of the pond in front, a pretty awesome site I have to say.
Sunrise done, back to hotel for breakfast, pack the bags and then back to Angkor Wat to see the rest of it in all of its glory and glory it most definitely is. A temple within a temple within a temple an incredible feat of engineering that has stood the test of time.
We finish the tour, have lunch and then it is off to another temple which was made famous by the Lara Croft movie Tomb Raider, even better than the main temple at Angkor Wat with some amazing tree roots that have morphed into the stonework.
All templed out and we head on back to the hotel to chill for an hour and have a shower because for a change it has been sweaty and hot today.
We will arrive in Bangkok around 9pm, tomorrow a bit of site seeing and then a visit to the Mitsubishi factory on Monday, fly home Tuesday.
I think everyone involved in this journey would agree it has been very worthwhile and the current charity total is sitting at £67,413.85 and no doubt there will be more to come. Thanks everyone
