friday 10th october - day 49
pushkar
Gopal picks us up at 8.30am, helps us get a ticket for the 9.30am jaipur-pushkar bus.
On the bus is the guy from rome we had dinner with in agra, an american girl I recoginse from delhi and a few other backpackers.
We grab some breakfast from a cart outside the bus - when yas asks for takeaway, his mate brings the tray over to the bus and posts it threw the window to me. Fab.
Every few stops, locals cram on and people ambush the bus through the windows to buy food or water. A little girl even points to my headphones and has listen to my music. 3 hours later, we arrive in pushkar and once again we are all ambushed by people and their hotels.
We make off to the one gopal booked us, its only a few mins walk. Once we get there we have to decide to to walk through the mens toilets or the rubbish tip to reach the entrance. Fortunately, the hotel itself is much nicer and looks right out onto the lake.
Pushkar is a holy pilgrim town nestled around a lake full of ghats, temples, vibrant bazaars and whitewashed buildings. Legend claims that the lakes were created from the petals that fell from the devine hands of Brahma the creator. Theres a big tourist crowd here and many are drawn in by the spiritual appeals such as the famous yoga gardens..
We get some dinner and walk along the market street bazaar - Its completely different to being out in the city - you feel completely safe and everyone is extra friendly and talkative. After some serious, unnessacerry shopping we head back to the hotel for the night.
