The last day of our Tea House Trek, WE MADE IT!!
In the morning we watched as the sun rose over Fish Tail Peak, it was awesome, a bright blue sky against such an amazing mountain back drop, how lucky did we feel to be here. After a group photo with the porters and a huge thank you to them for carrying our bags, we all set off, passing the random cows who just laid outside our tea house, totally oblivious to anything around them!
Today was an easy day, just 2-3 hours of down and our trek was complete, although the pain on the knees wasn't the best so we’ve decided that myself and Ads prefer up! For me though as I was still recovering from being in hospital, so the down was good today. We seemed to take an age though after the boys were playing around trying to be all artistic making it look like their legs were on the top of Fish Tail Peak etc… plus I think we took about 50 photos of the peak itself, at everywhere corner, you could hear another 'oooh’ and click click click, another dream fulfilled!
Passing through farming terraced land with the local farmer using the ox back to the primitive times, we made one last rest stop to gather the slowies like me at the back and on needing a loo stop, I was shown the usual hole in the ground with a piece of tin for privacy, but this one was by far the worst I’d seen for a while….yuk! Finally we came across the steps to the road, passing for the first time other hikers doing it in reverse, we felt quite glad that it was them just starting and not us!! Then we had made it, we reached the tarmac, let out a celebration cheer then celebrated with a bottle of fanta from the shack shop on the side of the road….we had all made it in one piece, it was an amazing feeling!!! Just Machu Pichu to go next! Ian and mum said they would definitely be training more for that one (if Ian decided he was still going we hope!).
That afternoon the sun was actually shining and back at Pokhara the mountains could now be seen from the lake (even if they were in totally the wrong area to what we thought!!) so we hired a boat and took it in turns to row, me and mum totally out doing the boys for speed across the lake......uuummm....
We had to laugh at the classic toilet sign on route.....take a look! Apparently you pay more for what you do!!!! Eeeek!!! That eve after our hotel had booked us into the rooms at the back which were totally different to our damp horrible ones from before and this time had massive rooms, sofas and a balcony, result! A treat perhaps for making the end of the trek.... We all then met up for pizza and then crashed early pretty exhausted but excited about white water rafting tomorrow!!!
