Hi guys,
Just a quick hello from Island Isabella, Have been here for nearly two weeks and I have to say it is like living in paradise, every day I am so surprised to see sealions, penguins, and tortoises as I go about my daily chores, it is amazing.
The family I am staying with are lovely although the food is still somewhat to be desired but it is so much better than hitlers its great!! A scottish couple are actually staying with us too, I met them in Banos and said I was going to be on the island and it just so happens that are staying at the same place, small world!
School is going well the kids scouse is coming along, they are quick learners and their favourite football player is now Steven Gerrard! I have been teaching english with them for a few days, and then environmental issues too, we have been to the beach a few times with them and then up into the hills, the children love exploring and when they are finished they have to complete work books on what they have seen and draw pictures, presenting them to the class. This next week I am going to be working in the tortoise santuary for a couple of days and then the school on wednesday and thursday.
We have been on a few excursions, we went to a place that is called the tunnels, which is lava rocks in the sea that have formed bridges and tunnels, the water is amazing so clear, there were loads of turtles swimming around so we were able to snorkle with them, it was amazing, they swam right underneath me, they are so gracious in the water. We then went to another area to snorkle which is a resting place for the white tipped reef shark, there were loads in the water and we got to swim right next to them, although this kind of freaked me out a little bit, as although they dont eat humas its still a shark and looked like a small version of jaws!! On the way home the boat broke down about 5 times, and we nearly set of a flare and SOS rescue in the pacific, location unknown! Luckily the captain of the boat come small paddle boat knew what he was doing and did a spot of fishing while his mate tried to fix the engine! Arrived home safely although a taad late, suppose thats what happens when you organise a day trip from a bar the night before!! But that is how they do business here.
We have also been to a mangrove area in which we couple paddle into the sea, and to a small cover that had herons, sealions, pelicans, and loads of fish. The sealions were swimming around us it was brilliant.
Anyway hoping to do a day trip on sunday to another island but we will wait and see what happens. Cant put photos on as it takes ages. will have to wait till santa cruz.
Love to all hope all well.
love me. x
