Day 7 Adelaide to Grampians National Park
This morning I say goodbye to Katie and her family and head for the centre of Adelaide at 6 o' clock in the morning. A bus is picking me up to take me on a three day adventure tour from Adelaide to Melbourne but at the moment I'm just thinking how crazy I am for getting out of bed so early. Once on the bus I meet a bubbly girl called Mel, she's Dutch and can speak perfect English. She has just been to Ayers Rock and is showing me all her photos.
Travelling through the picturesque Adelaide Hills, we cross the mighty Murray River. The sun is rising and the early start is instantly worth it.
Just outside Adelaide the driver stops next to a pink lake. I can't believe my eyes, the lake is actually pink. The light reflects on the algae in the lake and at certain times of the day the reflection off the water makes the lake look pink. So the locals called the lake 'Pink Lake'.
After breakfast we head into the outback where the roads are dusty and orange. The bus driver notices a huge lizard on the way and has to stop to show us. We then arrive at the Grampian Mountains National Park where we start our two hour trek up Hollow Mountain. The view from the top is amazing, you can see for miles and miles around you.
After lunch we head for MacKenzie Falls which is a huge waterfall. We nearly miss the bus and have to run up a lot of steps to get back. By this time everyone is hungry from all the exercise and ready for tea.
Our hostel for the night is in a little village in the mountains.
