Day 3
Horray destination Adelaide. The airport is very small and can only fit one plane on the runway at a time so the pilot has to do a loop of the city while he's waiting. This works out to our advantage as I get to see all the sights from a bird's eye view. This is when it dawns on me how big everything in Australia is and that I'm in a completely different part of the planet. Getting off the plane I wait for a sudden gush of hot air to take over me as I've been told that Australia is very hot but it is absolutely freezing. Southern Australia has just entered Spring and the Winter has hung around a lot longer than usual, I guess I'll have to wait a bit longer for the sunshine.
Once I'm through security (passed the scary customs lady) I pick up my bags and meet Katie. In Exmouth I used to live with an Australian girl affectionately named Aussie Katie. Though now I'm the foreigner I can't call her Aussie Katie anymore, she'll have to call me Pommie Hannah. After such a long flight it is so good to see a familiar face, especially one I haven't see for so long.
She takes me to her parents house in her big truck on a car (everything is bigger in Australia). Her parents are so welcoming and offer me a cooked breakfast. They tell me that they went to the market especially to pick me up some English sausages. I don't realise at the time that this is the last time I will see 'proper sausages' for a while.
After I've had a nice hot shower, Katie takes me for a tour of the city.
