Sydney to Surf Camp
It's a 5.30 start this morning but amazingly there are still people up and about in central Sydney. They are either jogging, working or going to work. I'm waiting for my bus to arrive to take me on a bus trip up the East Coast and I'm very excited to be on the move again.
The first person I meet on this trip is a guy called Nick who plays the clarinet and the flute. When we stop for breakfast I learn the names of the other people in my group. There is Fran, a hairdresser from London; Rachel an ex-student from Reading; Ryan, a very enthusiastic Welshman; Robb, a not so enthusiastic Scotsman and a girl from Israel that unfortunately I don't remember her name. I have a good feeling about this group; they're all travelling by themselves and seem to be a lot of fun.
The first overnight stop on our journey up the east coast is Surf Camp. We are greeted by a very chilled out Englishman from Sheffield. Apparently he came to Surf Camp for a 2 week holiday and liked it so much that he never left. That was 3 years a go.
After a magnificent meal our group and the bus driver head down to the beach, lie down on the sand and watch the stars. The sky is so clear and we are surrounded by millions of stars. I can make a wish ten times over by the amount of shooting stars I see.
That night, in bed, I'm thinking about tomorrow and what our 7.00 AM surf lesson will be like.
