Day 17
Today I go on a day trip into the Blue Mountains that surround Sydney. This mountain range is called the Blue Mountains because they are covered in a blue haze that comes from the oil produced by eucalyptus trees. The view from Echo Point into the heart of the Blue Mountains is really spectacular. There are gorges, waterfalls, canyons and plenty of gum trees to look at. On a walk through the bush we walk pass a waterfall called Witches Falls. The rock is shaped like a witch with her big nose and chin and her big witch's hat. Half way up the mountains our group gets to ride on the steepest railway track in the world. This train actually goes vertically up the cliff edge and passengers need to sit in a cage to stop them falling out the train.
On this trip I meet a girl called Mel, who's from Canada. She's going to New Zealand to work on the film 'The Hobbit'. She said she would advise me on getting work as a film extra while I'm out there. This sounds good to me, I think I would make a good hobbit.
