Hi All- Right now we are in Warsaw for the day. Yesterday we visited the Auschwitz 1 and 2. That was so difficult. For number one there is a sign outside of the gates with barbwire fence that basically says work hard and u will be free. Which was ironic because it was not the case. I just could not believe number 2 is was soooo big and basically in ruins because number one was preserved and number 2 was not really. There was so many belongings of the people that were at the camps. I could not even believe it there was 1 million pairs of shoes and tons of luggage and hair (that they used during the war to make cloth- for beds, clothes and etc..) most of the stuff that was brought was destroyed by all of the bombing that occurred there - they called those warehouses Canada 1 and 2. It was just awful what those people went though- I think the worst part was that they were brought there (some of them) under the pretense that they would have a better life that living in the ghettos where most were put in. After we went and saw the black Madonna which is one of the top 5 catholic religious relics- (to me it is just another Madonna and child piece but it is supposedly has performed many miracles Today in Warsaw we went on a guided tour- it is hard for me to believe that over 85 percent of this town was once rubble. Incredible. I am safe and well tomorrow off to Berlin for the conclusion of the tour- will keep u all posted and new events come along. Miss you Heather
