Heather's Adventures!
Hey All-
I am so sorry that my blog posts have been so short- it is just that Internet is 1. difficult to find 2. expensive 3. we are really pretty structured on this tour so we don't have much time is every city/ place. So you will have to except my apologies.
First off- I left off in Vienna where we had the rest of the morning to explore the city. I went to the Albertine museum where I saw the palace quarters plus the van goth exhbit- that was really neat all of the painting there.
After about noon we were on our way to Budapest. Which has been my favorite city thus far. Once we arrived there we got settled in our hotel and then we had a guide on bus show us the town. Then we went on this amazing dinner river cruise. Which was super fun. Then we all went out to a local bar and hung out till all hours of the evening. (That's being Young) That morning after a late night (while everyone else slept in till about noon). I went out and explored the town. They gave us all metro passes, which you really need because they check them all the time- so you always have to have those handy or else u get a huge fine. I took the metro to the center of town to the Parliament building which u can see that is a picture of it above. Then I walked all the way to the baths- then up this giant hill to what they call the statue of liberty. So after walking for 2 hours straight I was suppose to meet a friend on the tour at the old chuch/ castle. I thought it would take me about 15- 20 min. Oh no it was about another hour- so I was very late. But he was still there so I went and got something to eat and them we went through the labyrinth. Which is underground maze- it was pretty cool. But I have to tell you- I have been doing some slipping on this trip (fortunately i have been okay) but everyone in the tour makes fun of me because of that. Then after that we went to the baths. It was sooo much fun. It was a beautiful sunny day and the locals basically go and hangout in their bathing suits and relax. Which was a nice break from all of our busy go go touring. I also went to the heated mineral baths-. During the summer they heat all of the water to about 90 and in the winter it is heated to 94. Quite lovely. To end the day the whole group had dinner in the hotel (which was provided) then I called it an early night and got some sleep.
Yesterday we spent the entire day on the bus-- we spent an couple hours in this small town in Slovakia- don't know the name of it but it was quite cute. I got a sand which there for 1.50 us (really cheap and good.) I also went to the grocery store and bought a banana. Once I got out of the store I saw a trampoline and decided to take a go at it. The people I was with laughed, after I got a .50 cent ice cream- man I love eastern Europe. Later that evening about 6:30 we arrived in Krakow where I am now. We had a set dinner at the hotel last night which was awesome- except for the main course which was tough meat so I just ate other people's salads (from those who don't like veggies).
Later that evening we all went out to a local bar- which was quite nice. We all tried to local vodka- which was cherry// choc late flavored. I came home with a group in a taxi about midnight ish.
Today has been quite lovely. We had a local quite show us all around. We went to the palace and the Jewish ghetto, plus we saw the gates of the old factory (which the factory is long gone- but the gates are not) of Schindler's factory. That is pretty cool what he did.
Anyways- I am going to go and see the church's there are a million but I had to wait until mass was over to go in. Tomorrow we are going to the concentration camps- I think that is going to be a really hard day.
Don't worry about me I am safe and well (and not to mention having a very good time)
