Diabolical, waking up with backache, headache and bags under the eyes. Having given myself an extra day in Budapest I thought that I had better organize myself well for the next stage of the trip. I have been toying with the idea of finishing here in Budapest but have decided to continue but will jump on a train every now and then as and when a bike on the train is permitted. There are still another 1600km to do and even though I know that I could do it, it has now come down to a matter of wanting to bike ALL the way. I'm very satisfied that I did the first three stages biking and so quickly that everything else now is an added bonus.
So my first stop of the day after the very necessary coffee was to head to the train station to sort out my first ride further down the Danube. Bearing in mind that I had asked which train station I needed to go to at the tourist information you can imagine my delight when I got there not only to be told that the route I wanted to take didn't allow bikes but that I was at the wrong station and had to go to the other one which was in Buda. So when I finally got to the right station the morning was already over. The woman at the train station was very helpful and eventually found me somewhere I could get to with my bike and get back on the Danube Bike Way once there. I leave for Mohács, Hungary early tomorrow morning and once there I will get straight on my bike and head down to Osijek in Croatia, it's only 57km so I shouldn't have any problems getting there in the afternoon.
Anyway, back to today. Having slept so badly I rewarded myself with a quick siesta back at the hostel. Once awake I walked to the Terror Museum, a museum about the Holocaust and Nazis. I was a tad disappointed but then I guess after Auschwitz that nothing is going to be that horrendous.
After the museum I walked around for bit, ate and then headed back to the hostel to sort my stuff ready for a early rise in the morning.
Really enjoyed Budapest, highly recommend it.
