HAPPY 93rd BIRTHDAY to my wonderful Gran!
Woke up at 6am, bloody curtains again. Laid in bed for a while planning my day. There was lots to see in Budapest but first breakfast. Decided that I was going to do the tourist bus cos my legs needed a rest. It was bloody cold and windy this morning and having sent all my warm clothes back to Spain I was chilled. I jumped on the bus just as it started to rain and headed out to the Heroes Square. Took photos and then hopped back on the bus and headed over the other side of the river to Buda and the castle up on the hill.
Lovely little area up there with superb views of Pest and the Parliament building. The sun eventually came out but it was still windy and chilly in the shade, so I walked back down to the river and then got on the bus again and went to see the Parliament building close up. Cost a fortune to build apparently, could have built a city for 60,000 people for the same money.
By this time I was knackered so I headed back to the hostel, one to plan the next stage of my trip and two, to have a siesta.
Woke up, refreshed and hungry so headed out in search of food. Hoping to go on night river tour now seeing as it is included in the bus ticket.
More to see and do tomorrow.
