Soooooo comfortable in bed that I didn't want to get up. After a wonderful breakfast I packed up my gear and set off on my last day of Stage 2 through Austria. It was a wonderful day in the fact that the sun was behind clouds and their was a cooler air. It gets a bit tiring biking in heat all day so I reveled in the overcast day. The route once again was beautiful, this really is the best part of the Danube so far; the river is stunning and the path is flat and paved all the way.
I didn't hurry along even though due to the good path I kept up a steady rate. My knee and bottom are suffering and I am racking my brains searching for a way to sort out my trailer problem. You might be asking yourselves why the hell I decided to take a trailer in the first place. Well it wasn't my initial plan, having been assured that the front pannier rack I bought would fit a bike with front suspension. It didn't and no amount of trying to adapt the rack would make it fit so then cheaper option was to buy a trailer.
I have been searching for a rack as I have passed through cities along the way with the idea of cutting my losses and scrapping the trailer. No where seems to have a rack that will fit without prior ordering.
Anyway, back to my day. My route took me through apricot orchards and also vineyards. My brother would have enjoyed the latter without a doubt. I approached Vienna I good time but the of course had the task of finding where my hostel was. Maneuvering a bike and trailer through a capital city is not an easy task and one that had me losing my nerve a tad. Of course my hostel was away from the Danube but the fortunately it wasn't uphill. By this time the sun had come out with a vengeance and I kept telling myself I would be at the hostel soon so there was no need to stop and put sun cream on - tell my shoulders that!!!
After asking several times I finally found my way to the hostel. No parking for bikes and trailers which meant I had to offload everything and lock my bike up on the street and which also meant that I had to get the damn trailer up to my room - will be the death of me this damn trailer.
So it turned out that the hostel is only a stones throw away from the main shopping street. NOT what is needed when there is no room for anything else. So I bypassed shops and went straight for food.
Tomorrow will be a day of sightseeing although I am not sure just how much I will see.
