We got up, took showers and went to Albertsons to get groceries for the next few days of camping. I also found my favorite kombucha, which isn't sold back home, and stocked up.
Then we headed to Devil's Tower. When we got there we saw prairie dogs. The boys were fascinated so we stopped and watched them a bit. We then picked up Junior Ranger books, took the loop trail around and made plans to come back to climb it once we learn how to trad climb.
We then headed toward Spearfish, SD, and ate at Millstone Family Restaurant. We drove the Spearfish Canyon and it was amazing with the trees turning colors.
We drove past Crazy Horse Monument but decided not to visit. I think Seth said it best, "I'll come back after they finish it." Then we picked up firewood at a gas station that had a bighorn sheep grazing in front of it and the. drove into Custer State Park, found the Stockdale Campground and set up camp at campsite #9.
Seth and Liam made a fire and we roasted hot dogs and baked beans for dinner. We enjoyed the warm fire and more exciting than that, the campground had flushing toilets, soap and running water and showers! I was so excited to be camping in luxury.
We went to bed soon after dinner since it got dark around 7.
