I got up first and made breakfast and we all started packing up and cleaning. We left the Airbnb at 10 am and headed northeast toward Montana.
The drive through Idaho was amazing. We followed a river most of the time through Payette National Forest and Nez Perce - Clearwater National Forest. The Lochsa River was so clear I could see the bottom and the ponderosa pine and aspen trees with large boulders made the scenery very difficult to leave. Before leaving Idaho we stopped at a Nez Perce historical site and the Devoto Memorial Cedar Grove to see some very large old cedar trees.
We continued into Montana and found the Beavertail Hill Campground, which is east of Missoula and real close to the highway and train tracks.
We found one of the few remaining campsites left and started setting up our tent. It cost $30 to camp there, apparently. We paid it but wasn't sure if it was necessary since the water was turned off and the camp host wasn't there.
The train went through every hour or every other hour and blew its horn.
The boys rode their bikes on the nature trail with Matt which was about a mile loop and went next to the river.
Seth built a fire out of scrap wood and pine needles. The pine needles gave the fire a momentary boost which was a welcome since it was getting cold.
