well whilst jo uploads her pictures, my computer seems not to like mine i thought id write to you all!!!
So we arrived in Thailand last Tuesday early morning, having a hiccup at the Delhi airport i almost wasn't allowed to leave and had my passport taken from me!! however it was all resolved quickly and we were on our way.
We had one day in Bangkok and met an Irish girl named Emma, we all went to the tourist office together and booked a day trip to Tiger Temple and then a 5 day trip up to Chiang Mai.
On the way to tiger temple we stopped at the River Kwai and the museum, we'd been informed we had to have long shorts on for the temple so me and jo each bought some Genie pants! When getting to the temple it turned out these weren't actually necessary! We felt very bad once at the tiger place because we believe the tigers must have been slightly drugged due to the amount of pulling them asround the keepers did however we had pictures taken with us stroking them and it was all very cute, esp. when we found some baby ones (clearly not drugged) having a play about!
Then it wass onto the over night bus for our trip to Chiang Mai. On our first day there we had a little walk around and came across a shop that did health drinks, then we spent the afternoon by the pool and went to our trek meeting!
The next day we set off on our trek, there was 8 of us (jo and I, Emma, 3 Swedish guys and an English couple) and 2 guides (both avid Man utd fans!). The trek started with a stepp hill and i think its fair to say it was a hard trek, however we were pleased that we managed to stay in the group and were never at the back! it was very satisfying. We stayed in a little hut outside one of the villages on the first night, washed in the stream, got cooked for by the locals and bought a bracelet each (though I have lost mine :( )! The second day started off as hard as the first but ended in a swim in the waterfall and finally camp by another waterfall which had a cave behind it!We had a good hang out round the camp fire that night and then it was onto the third day trek./ This was an hour's trekking through the jungle, where i took a tumble and now have a graze down my left shin! Then we went bamboo rafting, and elephant ridign! much fun. Then it was back to the hostel in Chaing Mai for a drunken night with the team!!!
Last night we got the night bus back to bangkok and Jo and I have spent today wondering around China town!
Loev US xxxx
