G'day g'day, how ya goin', what d'ya know, well strike a light
G'day g'day, and how ya go-o-o-in'
Just say g'day g'day g'day and you'll be right
Isn't great to be an Aussie
Takin' a walk along the street
Lookin' in shops or buyin' a paper
Stoppin' and havin' a yarn with people that you meet
Down at the pub or at a party
Whenever you're stuck for what to say
If you wanna be dinky-di, why don't you give it a try
Look 'em right in the eye and say goo'day.
Just a little taster of a classic t-uuuune that they play all the tourists ;) catchy stuff! hahaha.
So, a week on, it's time for another update to our travels. We left you with Whitsundays, and since then we've been to Magnetic Island (a stunning island just off Townsville and covered in rainforest and beaaaches). Here we bumped into a collection of pals from previous trips, so had fun hanging out with them all again in the lush hostel, which was riiiight on the beachfront. After this, we headed to Mission Beach to chillax for a few days and soak up the suns rays, whilst playing volleyball in the pool. Here Jo also bumped into another Uni pal!
Then to our last stop on the Oz Experience Buses...Cairns. On the way we stopped at a Crocodile Farm for all the usual activities before making it to the final destination of Australia. We were met by Sam and Simone (Heather's Family friends who live out here) and accepted into their home. After a visit to Tjapukai Aboriginal Culture Park, where we were treated to dances, didgeradoo playing, and trying our hand at spear throwing and boomerangs, we checked out the night market and the Casino. No playing for us though unfortunately... i don't think our funds would have coped with a loss...however a win would have been good!
We had our Cape Tribulation trip, stopping at a Wildlife Sanctuary, Mossman Gorge for river swimming, and tasted sugar cane...as well as Jo licking a green ants bum...might i add ONLY because it is said to taste of lemon and lime...it does! Cape Tribulation is the rainforest where it meets the Barrier Reef, so you can imagine the scenery! Paradise! Our Barrier Reef trip was really good, we saw a stingray, 2 sea turtles, and a reef shark, as well as tonnes of tropic fish and marine life. The final day was spent walking the practically deserted beaches and rainforests and pretending we were on 'Shipwrecked'.
Now we have only a few days before we jet off to Fiji (lets hope we don't get caught up in any of the Political issues that are going on there right now). We're going to do the Feejee Experience, which involves travelling around the main island, stopping at orphanages and villages, before doing a few island trips.
Stay safe! Love us xxxx
