The Dashing Diner
Nha trang 15th-June 2006
Had a good diving day- saw loads of moray eels, one the size of a bus.Was relieved not to see the entire body. Air supply would have diminished turbo speed.
Am topping up tan - funny hey how blobbles look OK when of a brownish hue?
The beach is empty pretty much until 5 pm when the entire town tumbles onto the beach. Picnics, kites, kiddies and proud grannies loll around enjoying the evening breeze.
Have not had any hassles- maybe due to the fact Asians do not find 45 yr old Barangs attractive or just that it is not the thing to do- Barang- is the local word for white tourist any nationality- symbolic with dollar and donG!
Met some great people on dive boat and we are meeting up to watch the England footie this evening in Shamrocks-mm wonder what influence that may be?
The streets are full to bursting of steaming pots of seafood, barbequeued meats and piping corn- all fresh to riggling, it is hard to eat anything dodly. However have not succumbed to dog which is an apparant delicacy nor did I have the courage to do crickets!Apparantly those well informed tell me they taste like roasted cashews!
Tomorrow I have chartered a boat to take me to the islands - more heaven . Wish you were here. You have to come before the big hotels take over.
