Hello, once again i've not quite fallen off the edge of the map! We're here in Milan waiting for our overnight train to Barcelona. The train is meant to be really nice, well the cost of the suppliment seems to indicate that it's a palace on train tracks! Venice is beeeeeeeeeeeautiful, but so hot and sunny. We are staying a campground just outside of Venice and we've got a glorified tin hut and it's soooooo hot! Today we just wandered around Venice looking at all the pretty stuff in the shops and going on and on about the canals. We got a water bus up and down the main canal so that we could see more. Yes i've actually now see the Vatican City, yesterday we went to the Sistine Chapel and St. Peters Basilica, both of which were quite awe inspiring. The Sistine Chapel was really beautiful, but not what i was expecting. It was incredibly busy which was a bit of a shame. St. Peters was definately my favourite of the two, it was aaaaaaaaaaamazing and so beautiful. We climbed to the top of the Cupola and had an amazing view of Rome, even if we did have to climb 320 ...

I'm alive, we've now made it to Italy. We arrived here in Rome yesterday after a huuuuuge journey involving two ferries, four trains, a coach and a taxi! We got an overnight ferry from Patras in Greece to Bari in Italy. Our inter-rail tickets include the ferry what we didn't know was that when they said 'deck class' it actually meant sleeping on the deck. Oh yes we curled up in our sleeping bags on the floor. Another cultural encounter... in the form of the Acropolis!!!! I was actually quite impressed, more impressed than i thought i would be. Although i did think i was going to die walking up vast amounts of steps to get to the top. Unfortunatly there's loads of scaffolding in the way of the Panarethon which kind of spoilt the view, very inconsiderate!!! Still it's another cultural place ticked off the list! Hope you're all ok
