Today was a trip to the Melbourne Zoo.It was absolutely fantastic, and luckily the weather held out for us (showers were predicted). It was abit overcast, with some sunshine trying to peer through on the odd occasion, but it didn't rain - so we were happy!
Yay ……. I got to see Kangaroo's, and a Koala (with its baby on its back), which was awesome, among loads of other animals. The only animal we didn't get to see were the Tigers - I think they were in hiding. So we were abit gutted about that, but really couldn't complain seeing that we got to see ALL the other animals. The Zoo is layed out beautifully, with little pathways surrounded by bush, which gives you the feeling you are walking through the wild.A definite must for anyone passing through Melbourne.
About Melbourne ZooWith more than 320 species on view, Melbourne Zoo offers a window into the diversity of the world's wildlife.
Every animal at Melbourne Zoo is an ambassador for its wild cousins, and there are many education, research, and conservation projects underway. The botanic garden setting provides a relaxing atmosphere with a variety of landscapes, from the Victorian-era formality of the main drive to the lush jungles of the African and Asian rainforest areas.

Today we decided to go up the Eureka Tower to the SkyDeck, to see ALL of Melbourne. What a beautiful site, and again, the weather was kind to us, so managed to get some smashing pictures.
The Eureka Tower is 300 metres high, located in the Southbank precinct of Melbourne. It is the world's tallest residential tower when measured to its highest floor. The Eureka Tower has 92 Floors. The Eureka Skydeck is situated on the 88th floor.Unfortunately we didn't take the 'Edge Experience' whereby you get into a small cubicle, which is pushed out away from the building, with a glass floor that you can see underneath you. That alone cost more than actually getting up to the Skydeck.Because we could see so much, and the view was beautiful, we decided not to go for the 'Edge Experience' ….. got to watch the funds you know.Though looking back now - I probably should have - as when will I go up there again.Oh well, no use crying over spilt milk, it was a great view in any event.

Today, Dave's brother Luke took me to Chadstone shopping centre, which is the largest shopping center in the Southern Hempishere. It is referred to as the 'Fashion Capital'.Unfortunately I didn't buy anything, as I'm limited for space in my bag, and funds (got to keep things to a minimum), unless absolutely needed ….. though there were a few shoes that were almost on the NEEDED list, but I thought better of it - GOD the willpower that took but window shopping was just as fulfilling I guess.

Today, I was billy-no-mates, so decided to take a River Cruise along the Yarra River. It was a beautiful day yet again, with the sun out.The Cruise consisted of the Melbournet Harbour Cruise, and Herring Island & Botanic Gardens Cruise. We set off around 1pm, and finished at 3.30pm - so it was a lovely afternoon out. After which I finished off with a couple glasses of wine at a bar just on the River.
Melbourne Harbour Cruise:
As you travel downstream to the Port of Melbourne, you pass many of the city's highlights. These include Southgate, Melbourne's Crown Casion - the largest in Australia (Mom, I've taken pictures of this especially for you - and wow - you would just love it - its massive.I've not yet been inside, but you can only imagine how cool it is by its size), Melbourne Aquarium, World Trade Centre, Melbourne Exhibition Centre, Polly Woodside (Melbourne's Maritime Museum), Docklands, Containerised Cargo Port and of course the famous West Gate Bridge.Melbourne is the Southern Hemisphere's busiest General Cargo Port and is a vital ink in Australia's growth and economy.
Herring Island & Botanic Gardens Cruise:
As you cruise up to Historic Herring Island (Como) you pass some of Melbourne's famous landmarks, gardens and sports arenas. These include the Roayl Botanic Gardens, The Melbourne Cricket Ground, The National Tennis Centre. The Sports & Entertainment Centre, Olympic Park, Toorak Mansions, and ornate bridges.Theis peaceful part of the Yarra offers beautiful views of the river and the enchanting spires of Melbourne's skyline. The tree lined Yarra River captures the true charm of Melbourne and its only minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
