Woken up to a cold (11C top temp) and damp morning in this exciting city. Where to start and what to see first - meeting with Trafalgar rep to get a few things organised.
Well that was easy....... Just organised the next 4 days in London (at great expense to our children's inheritance might I add!).
They have promised us cold and rain for our stay here, so time to rug up and get going....... First stop Madam Tussard's Waxworks.
Wow that was fantastic, even ran into a few old mates there, not to mention an old sutor! Great 4D superhero movie too. Definitely worth seeing.
Oh my God, had to rush into McD very quickly for a comfort stop! This is a hassel when you are travelling, never a toilet handy when you need it especially in the cold weather!!
Ok back to the hotel to 'Dolly Up' for the 'Phantom of the Opera' at the Westend!
Started out with a taxi ride in one of London's cute taxis......such a sweetie driver (unlike last night!!) who dropped us at the Angus Steakhouse (more our cuisine!!) for a spectacular steak dinner (scotish beef) with yummy sweet potato chips, right across the road from Her Majesty's Theatre where we are about to see the 'show'. Someone pinch me please!
By the way, London Taxis cost £30,000 and are very expensive to repair, however they will turn on a sixpence, they are now mainly manufactured in China. Wealth of knowledge!!
Interval - Roger has gone for respite, this is not his cup of tea - suprised???? Me - If I was a Londoner I would love to frequent the West End.
Curtain Call- that was great, I think even Roger enjoyed it by the end.
If I wasn't so keen to protect the kids inheritance I would see a different show each night we are here. West End is an exciting place.
Off to get some sleep to re-charge for tomorrow's adventure.
Roger's added thoughts on the day......
I started the day with a 6am walk to get my bearings in this part of town.
Really enjoyed the Wax Works, definitely worth the money!
The tiny room on the hotel doesn't have a fridge, so the wine and beer are outside on the window ledge.....cold though, only 8 deg outside. Think of the power costs I am saving this shack!

Trish Glad you got a real taxi experience today. They are so different the "real londerner taxi drivers" they have to sit "the knowledge test" before they can get a taxi licence. The knowledge is to know all of london and be able to take passengers everywhere, not like the indian or pakistanies who don't know where there going half the time and who do not converse with you like the "Londeners" xxx
janine K I vote for a different show every night theory. Sophie saw the Lion King when she was there 18mnths ago - still makes us jealous and said it was the highlight of her holiday. Maybe it might still be playing ....
