Up and off this morning heading for Berlin via Dresden - 7 degrees and blue skies.
3 hour bus journey thru beautiful countryside to Dresden.
On the outskirts of Dresden many derolict houses that had been abandoned when the Germans were given 1hour to leave following the war.
Dresden this is the surpirse so far!
Having been totally destroyed by our allies during WW2, this extradordinary city has been re-built.
The truth of who decided to bomb this civilian city still remains in the locked archives in England.
Steeped in history it has has been almost painstakingly restored to it's former glory since the end of the Cold War in 1989.
The main square was still in ruins 2 years ago and is now almost totally restored looking like it has been there for hundreds of years.
The cost has been covered by the German State. An extraordinary feat. Amidst these beautiful buildings stands an ugly building constructed during communist rule.
Miessen Porcelin was created and is still manufactured in Dresden marked by the crossed swords.
Lovely lunch in a cafe, arrogant waiter though.
Wonderful experience seeing Dresden.
