A lovely chilled week was spent in the town of Cairns, ending our trip up the east coast nicely. There isn't a lot to the town, a barrage of souviner shops, ice cream parlours, travel shops - each offering 'the cheapest [insert random tourist attraction] tickets' and a sprinkling of bars, all highlighting their cheap drinks for the inevitable stream of backpackers starting or ending their Australian adventure here.

Most of our time was spent at the lagoon. It has to be said. The Ozzies know how to do free outdoor pools. With different pools of varying depths surrounding the idillic parkland - with views out to sea, over the apparent 'infinity pool' effect edge. Lovely. And most importantly, free.

We did make it inside at one point tho - we saw The Hangover at the cinema. Pretty funny if you ask me. Well worth my scrounged pennies.

I can't think of much more to tell you about Cairns. So I'll leave it there...
