I wasn't entirely sure that I was ready to leave Taupo and head south, but at the lack of an expense account on which to put another sky dive, I thought it best to keep moving. Plus, those that I had met on the bus were travelling south - wow, I still bow to peer pressure...
So what to say about Wellington? It's the capital and it's windy. Oooh, it's got a pretty good museum too. That's really all I took from it. I don't expect lonely planet will be asking me for a quote in the near future. Did get some nice pics from the top of the hill overlooking the city tho. A highlight.
Myself, Charlie and Sarah decided to 'treat' ourselves to dinner out, which started out with good intentions, but the backpackers in us then sought out the cheapest meal in the city. And it was BYO. Classy! But I'm still alive, so it couldn't have been that bad.
Found a little Irish bar round the corner that had some yocals sat outside playing gee-tar, so sat and listened with them for a few hours whilst putting the world to rights. Think it's all sorted now. Phew.
Was another whirlwind stop here, made an attempt to get my final injections here. But, as there appears to be a national shortage of the vaccinations I need, they were going to cost about the same as a family sized car. Such a shame but I think I'll put them off till Oz where I won't need to sell any organs.
I appear to have completed the North Island - that was fast... next stop - The Ferry... and then the South. Exciting xx
