Leg 5 - race 7 - day 18
Woke at 12 finished my book. My body aches cramped in my bunk when we are heeling over is hard work. Looking forward to a massage when we get to Vietnam. Went into the heads and washed myself down with a bucket of sea water and had a hair wash. Can't wait to have a decent shower and sleep in a flat bed.
Went on deck at 3pm it was raining so full foulies on. The code 2 was up sophie was repairing the code 3 then I helped to wool it to put back in the bag to re hoist. Sailed past a couple of islands good to see land but they were deserted islands. We are now on course for the extra miles clipper have added to stop us getting into Vietnam early.
Came off shift at 7pm washed up.
Carl hasn't shaved since we got on the boat and his beard looks ginger and grey sophie said he looks like a fox so his nickname is mr fox ! Ha ha
We are currently in third place GB is 20 miles ahead and Derry 58 then garmin is 7 miles behind. The boats at the back are between 100-200 miles away. We get updated schedules from clipper every 6 hours telling us where the rest of the fleet are and how fast they are going.
We to sleep 11pm - 2.30am then back up for 3am. Still have kite up pretty smooth shift although just before handover had a squall come through. In bed at 7.30 for my 8 hour break
Miles covered 208; speed 5.3-12.8
