Leg 5 - race 7 - day 11
Woke at 9am finished reading my book. Had tuna pasta with pesto for lunch/ breakfast then up on deck for 11am. It was cloudy but a little sunny so nice weather conditions. Sea was moderate and wind was up to 25 knots at times. We were heeled over and were making good speed highest being 13.6 knots.
I sat near the bow although it was wet from splashes from the waves, it was nice. Just love sailing. Carl was at the helm for a while. Got soaked through in my shorts and t shirt but it was a nice soaked cooled me down. Came down below to prepare dinner fish with rice and made a white sauce. Had to take a sickness tablet as felt a bit odd as the boat really heeled over and hard to cook in these conditions. Went off at 7pm and had a lay in my bunk fell asleep whilst listening to music. Back on shift at 11pm the wind had got up and at one point we had a gust of 40 knots. Carl struggled to control helm so we did a accidental tack! Then in the attempt to save it Carl by mistake pulled us life jacket cord. So it inflated ! But then it calmed down and all was under control. Had waves coming over the boat and a fish landed by my foot really made me jump. In fact made me scream wondered what it was thrashing about round my legs ! Threw it back in the sea.
