Leg 5 race 8;day 14
Woken up at 5.15. Have to get woken earlier as more layers to put on to keep warm.
Porridge for breakfast then on deck for 6am. The sun was out although still cold. The sea was no longer a dirty yellow more blue and it was calm. We had hardly any wind so we put the wind seeker up. Spent the rest of the watch trying to will the boat to move. Have about 80 miles to go and it seems to be taking forever. Sarah had had a fall and hurt her arm she thought it was broken but Linda didn't think so
Came off deck at 10am Lindsey had made some carrot and lentil soup it was amazing had this with the fresh bread I had made. Yummy. Washed my hair the water was freezing felt like I was pouring blocks of ice on my head. But I couldn't bear another day with dirty hair. Plus it's good to have it clean for when we get into Qingdao.
Read through the skipper blogs then went to bunk at 12 to rest. Didn't feel that tired laid listening to music. We are hoping to be in tomorrow afternoon. But just need the wind to pick up more. We were only doing 3 knots!!
Can't wait to get there now. A nice hotel room and to be able to face time home. Miss the children xxxx
On shift at 6pm still not a lot of wind. Went onto standby at 10pm then we went past the finish line at 1am -we are 7th in the race. Got phone reception so texted home. We then had to hang around just past the finish line till morning when we could put our engine on and motor to the port.
