Leg 5 : race 8: day 15 Woken at 5.30am pancakes for breakfast then up on deck at 6 am We had our engine on and had started motoring to the port. Around 9am saw the land. Couldn't believe how built up it was lots of high risers. As we got closer to the land speed boats came out to meet us taking lots of photos. We had to line up on the boat and circle the marina for lots more pictures to be taken. When we moored up the crowd was Enormous! Felt like we were famous. Immigration came on board and we gave passports and visas over. We came off the boat and walked up to the stage for a presentation, there were drums beating played by really cheerful women (around 100) couldn't believe the welcome we were having. We were live on tv and the press were pushing to get photos of us. We then went onto a welcome reception with plenty of beer and some snacks. Felt odd being on land again. After the reception we went to get our bag off the boat and book into our hotel. Luckily it was 5 min walk from the boat. Had a bath it was amazing and so needed. Had a lovely hotel room big comfy bed and soft pillows such a luxury after being in a bunk on the boat. Faced timed the children and my mum lovely to talk to them Went to the bar at 6pm met sophie and Oliver then got a taxi to a bar and met with the team for dinner. Heard that Sarah had broken her arm whilst being on the boat and had to have surgery! Poor Sarah ! A lovely relaxing evening than back to our hotel to sleep in our comfy bed zzzzzz.
